 The Vancouver Island Symphony NoteworthyKids Music Club is for students ages 8–13 who love music!

We are delighted to offer the NoteworthyKids Music Club this year and continue to reach students that love music on Vancouver Island.  Fantastic opportunities await the students that will elevate their musical experiences.

You are invited to join NoteworthyKids Music Club if you are between the ages of 8-13. We are looking for students who LOVE MUSIC, Choir or Band, who would be interested in attending our Symphony rehearsals, and whose education will benefit from doing so. PLEASE NOTE: This is for youth 8-13 years ONLY, parents and family members can come to the Open Symphony Rehearsal  Event and be a NoteworthyFamily on Saturday February 19, 2011 and enjoy the experience.

What do NoteworthyKids do?

·         See and hear how the Vancouver Island Symphony practices for a performance 

·         Meet VI Symphony conductors and musicians

·         Learn about the instruments of the orchestra

·         Meet other students who represent their school and other schools in the region as NoteworthyKids

·         Volunteer at the NoteworthyKids Open Symphony Rehearsal Event each year and invite your family and friends to attend this event with you.

·         Volunteer at Symphony in the Harbour (August 7th, 2010) in the Go Green Symphony Zone.

What you need to do to join the NoteworthyKids Music Club?

·         Print and fill out the registration form prior to the NWK event.  Cost: $40. (Bursaries available based on financial need) Registration Fee includes a FREE NoteworthyKids T-shirt and 4 Compliemntary Tickets to the VI Symphony from October 2010- April 2011).

·         Plan to arrive at 6:15 pm at the loading bay door of The Port Theatre. Enter off Museum Way. Please complete the registration form before you arrive – there is limited room at the theatre. Your parents can bring you in if needed and then pick you up at the door at 7:45 pm.

·         Dress casually; the musicians will be.

·         VIS musicians will speak with you throughout the evening.

·         At 7:00 pm, NoteworthyKids will be led into the theatre to take their seats to watch the rehearsal. Because this is a working rehearsal, it is important that everyone be very quiet.

·         At 7:30 pm., NoteworthyKids will be led out of the theatre for a Q & A period and to wait for your parents. NWK's  will be released once we see that a parent is present either in their car on Museum Way or at the door. 
  
NEW in 2010: Perform at Christmas with the Vancouver Island Symphony. If you would like to sing in the NWKids Choir, please call our office for an audition time.  You will need to sing O Canada for the conductor. Auditions will take place in October 2010.  Rehearsals will take place in November and December for performances on December 18 & 19 at The Port Theatre.
