Patricia Plumley has been on faculty in the Music Department at Vancouver Community College (VCC) for over 30 years and has taught class piano, piano pedagogy, keyboard literature, voice and piano lessons, chamber collaboration, vocal coaching and yoga. In addition, Patricia conducts the VCC Willan Choir and is co-conductor of the VCC Concert Choir.

On Vancouver Island, Patricia enjoys directing A Cappella Plus, the Village Voices of Qualicum Beach, the Vancouver Island Symphony Children's Choir and most recently, the newly formed Vancouver Island Choir as it prepares tours for China and Scotland/Croatia.

Patricia began working with the VIS choirs in 2012 and has been part of many exciting musical collaborations since including the My Symphony project with Rick Scott and Nico Rhodes.

Patricia's background in dance and love for movement has taken her to Beethoven Studios in Hong Kong with Body Awareness for Musicians workshops, inspired movement classes for the West Coast Amateur Musicians Summer Camp at Quest University as well as creating unique piano workshops on Salt Spring Island. It has influenced her choral work with the British Columbia Boys Choir, Kids Sing Inner City Chorus and, combined with her love for art and drama, continues to be the driving impetus for her commitment to voice and piano students of all ages at her private studio in Nanoose Bay.

A Cappella Plus, now in its 36th year, is a dynamic choral ensemble performing a wide variety of repertoire, from the sacred to the secular, early to modern, classical to jazz, and rock & roll to pop. A Cappella Plus enjoys collaborating with other choral and instrumental groups and delights in accepting invitations to share their love of music whenever possible!

Performance highlights through the years have included participation in the International Choral Kathaumixw, the opening of the Shakespeare Plus Festival, the opening of the Port Theatre, (and its 10th anniversary), singing for the arrival of the Olympic Torch, and a performance on board "The World" residential luxury liner when it dropped anchor in Nanaimo Harbour. We have been honoured to collaborate with the Vancouver Island Symphony, Vancouver Welshmen's Choir, Larry NIckel's Jubilate! Choir, the Nanaimo Chamber Orchestra, the Pat Coleman Trio, the Vancouver Men's Chorus and most recently, the Vancouver Orpheus Men's Choir and a tour to Scotland and Croatia with the Vancouver Island Choir. A Cappella Plus is a member of Nanaimo Sings!

The Village Voices of Qualicum Beach is a mixed (SATB) community choir with a passion for fine music-making and community involvement. From outreach concerts to collaborations with local choirs, VVQB enjoys a mix of repertoire and bringing joy to its audiences!

Founded as a non-profit organization in 1992 by a group of singers looking to create something new, the choir has grown from a modest membership of 25 to approximately 75 singers. Their latest creation is a spring series of Youth Infusion choral concerts that involve young, talented Oceanside artists from multiple disciplines including music, dance and the speech arts. They look forward to many more years of watching this series expand and nurture a multi-generational passion for choral music and the arts in their community.
